the original big ass hat, circa 2002
Back in 2002 The Blue Lumber Tiger were mulling over the philosophy behind "posters as art" and how a group of artists could, through mass production, truly bring art to the people.
Of course the ideal vehicle through which to move this "poster art" would be the internet. This was a tough time for artists and web people -- the internet bubble burst was doing it's best to shake all the posers and money-grubbers out. Budgets were tight and there was a strong spirit of DIY in the air.
Around this time Apple was migrating to a Unix-based system dubbed "OS X" (insert cat flavor here). This new system provided the perfect doorway for graphics people to explore the stable and proven world of server software while keeping one foot firmly planted in our GUI. After procuring an used Tangerine iMac on eBay and a cable connection at our studio we had our very first server which provided web services and email for 4 websites.
Years later we have grown and now have multiple L.A.M.P. (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Php) servers on a superfast optical fiber line and have brough on a world-class support staff to make sure your website performs at it's best.
In our work and play we all wear different hats -- no matter your style or goals, there is room for you under "The Big Ass Hat".
